Camp Stories
"I can't wait for camp next summer and I hope I get to go swimming again with my friends."
David, 9
"Camp has been an invaluable experience for David. He has gone from a non-verbal boy who used pecs to communicate to a boy that loves to tell you how much he loves camp and his day.
My husband and I know that he is safe, as well as learning to communicate and socialize with his peers. This year David was able to show his independence by being a leader amongst all of the children. He had a great time at camp and is looking forward to next year.
David's favorite activities were playing pool with Matt and swimming at Millenium Place. He made some friends, which I'm still hearing about and that is a great milestone for our family."
David's Mom
Summer Camp was wonderful-Sam had an awesome time and gained so much confidence in himself. The aides and volunteers were well trained and very sensitive----they knew when to give Sam help and when to give him an extra push to try something new. It was a great balance of structure and novelty----the same people, the same routine, the same rules and expectations, but also new places to explore and new things to try each day.
