Speech and Language Pathologists

Full-time and Part-time Opportunities

Centre for Autism Services Alberta is a leading edge, non-profit organization specializing in services to children, youth and families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorders. We are seeking a creative Speech Language Pathologist to join our talented, multi-disciplinary team of experts. This key individual will focus on the development of functional communication skills through assessment, consultation and direct intervention. Programming is provided through home-based and centre-based services and utilizes an innovative and integrated community based delivery model.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be registered with the Alberta College of Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (ACSLPA)
  • Clear criminal records check and intervention record check
  • Vehicle and valid driver’s license

In-Home Intervention Program

Specialized Services Aides – part- time

This programming is conducted in the client’s home with children between 2 to 14 years of age, diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The employee is responsible for carrying out the programming and objectives found in the Individualized Program Plan, in collaboration with the clinical team and parents. On-going support, supervision and mentorship are provided.

Employees receive:

  • Valuable “hands-on” experience
  • 20 hours of comprehensive introductory training (paid)
  • On-going support and guidance from the clinical team
  • Collaboration with a team of clinicians: Speech and Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Psychologists....
  • Opportunity to provide an essential services to children and their families

Requirements include:

  • Interest in working with children with special needs
  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • Clean Information Police and Intervention Record checks
  • First Aid and Child CPR
  • Ability to work a minimum of 2 to 3 shifts per week (2 to 3 hours per shift)
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and time management skills

Respite Services Program

Relief Aides – Part -time

**Respite/relief services, work related care and community integration

The Respite Services Program provides respite/relief services, work related care and/or community integration to children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. These services are coordinated at the request of the parent and/or guardian. Community integration is carried out at various leisure and recreational centers throughout the city. Respite/relief and/or work related care services are completed in the child’s home.

Employees receive:

  • Experience with Autism Spectrum disorder
  • 20 hours of comprehensive introductory training (paid)
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Opportunity to work with children in different settings: community centers, leisure centers, private homes, summer camps....

Requirements include:

  • Experience and interest in working with children with special needs
  • Post-secondary education preferred
  • Clean Police Information and Intervention Record Checks
  • First Aid and Child CPR
  • Ability to work at least 1 day per week
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving and time management skills
